"Sex in the City 2" Trailer

As much as I love the series, this trailer has no plot at all. It looks like the ladies are taking on Epygt, which seems a little odd to me. Well, maybe in the coming months the studio will make a better trailer.

Who Knew Sparkling Vampires and Hot Bodied Werewolves Could Look So Good

So are you Team Edward or Team Jacob? The fan fight is in full swing.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon broke many records within the past week, but is the film worth all the record breaking success? Well of course, especially if you are a fan of the books. Now, if you haven't picked up one the books yet, you will either enjoy it or be in pain.

I thought it was a good adaptation. Every important scene from the book came alive on the screen. From Bella's birthday to the wolf pack, fans will not be disappointed. There are a few changes, but it helps keep the audience's attention.

Now, Twilight had weak special effects. New Moon gives us CGI! Edward actually sparkles, the bad vamps have red eyes you can see, Jacob phases into a werewolf and there are good fight scenes! It's amazing what more money can do.

Thank you Kristen Stewart for finally figuring out Bella's personality. In Twilight she seems to not understand the meaning of crazy teenage love. I don't know about you, but when I read Twilight I imagined more smiles and jokes. In New Moon, Stewart smiles and cracks a few jokes. I was pleased.

Another reason to see this film...hello Taylor Lautner.

In the book he invades Bella's room to retrieve her scent and gives it to the army of newborn vampires Victoria creates for a war.

Five Horror Films Everyone Should See

It's Halloween! Instead of watching the same old horror movies such as bad sequels of A Nightmare on Elm Street, the million versions of Halloween or the fiftieth Saw, I've made a list of the top five horror movies everyone should check out!

#5: Night of the Living Dead (1968): No excuse on this one. AMC will be playing it all night starting at 6pm eastern time. This is George A. Romero at his best, which is showing us that he is the zombie master.

#4- Nosferatu (1922): There's nothing more terrifying than a silent horror film. This is one of the earliest vampire films that showcases visuals and music to scare audiences. If you can't find F.W. Murnau's version try Werner Herzog's. Herzog's version is not a silent film, but I prefer Murnau's silent version.

#3-The Shining (1980): This is one everyone should see. Jack Nicholson gives an amazing performance and he will scare the crap out of you. Not to mention the little kid that rides his bike around the hotel and sees bodies decapitated with blood everywhere. The film starts out slow, but it builds up to a climatic ending. Some iconic quotes came from this movie such as "Here's Johnny!"

#2-The Birds (1963): I've yet to see this one on any of the "best of horror" lists or sites. Hitchcock is horror. He can take a simple creature, like bird, and turn it into our worst fears. What if the everyday creatures we ignore eventually take over the world?

#1- Psycho (1960)- As I've said before, no one can remake a Hitchcock film even if they tried. Don't watch the Gus Van Sant version because it does not even come close to the black and white imagery and the infamous "shower scene." Psycho set the direction for many famous slasher films of today and also psychological horror films.

New Trailer for "Avatar"

This movie is getting too much attention. Yes, we know the genius who directed Titanic, James Cameron, is back. The big question is-will he deliver a good film like his many in the past? So far I'm not convinced. Decide for yourselves!

Living in "Zombieland"

I had to convince myself to see Zombieland because after seeing Jesse Eisenberg in Adventureland I didn't think I would be able to deal with his Michael Cera persona. Well, I'm happy to say that I was wrong and Eisenberg gave a great performance. Zombieland is one of the best comedies of this year and here are my top five reasons why you should see it.

#5- The creativity of the characters names. We are used to characters having appropriate names. Well, in Zombieland appropriate names are prohibited. The only names that are used are city names to refer to where the characters are from. For example, the character names are Columbus (Eisenberg), Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin).

#4- Out of all the zombie movies in film history, there have never been rules. How many times do we shout "run" or "shoot it its not dead yet." We are finally given a set of rules in order to survive in Zombieland.

Rule #1- Cardio

Rule #2- Double Tap

Rule #3- Beware of Bathrooms

Rule #4- Buckle Your Seat Belt

There are plenty more, but these are the main ones. I liked the originality of this creative thought and found it quite refreshing.

#3- Bill Murray. Out of all the celebrities in Hollywood the group heads to Bill Murray's house. I don't want to give much away, but Murray gives a little extra to the hectic lifestyle of living in Zombieland.

#2- Woody Harrelson. This guy is freaking hilarious. There are so many "one liners" that he says throughout the film that will have people rolling on the floor. For example, "I haven't cried that hard since Titanic" and "I'm not good at goodbyes so that'll do pig that'll do."

#1- Rule #32-Enjoy the small things. In a world as crazy as Zombieland its good to take a minute and enjoy a Twinkie. I really liked this rule because it fits the film well and we should use it in our daily lives. Take a mintue from your crazy life and enjoy something small because in the end that may be all you have.

"A Nightmare on Elm Street" Trailer

A Nightmare on Elm Street in HD

I've been waiting for this and I'm impressed. Lately, reboots of old horror movies have not surpassed the originals in my opinion. I hope Freddy can shed some light and bring life back to the aching horror genre.

What Will Depp do about "Pirates 4?"

Dick Cook, studio chief for Disney, left the company without stating a reason for his sudden departure. Johnny Depp stated that he was "shocked and very sad" to hear about Cook leaving Disney. Cook was the one person who stood behind Depp when the company did not like the development of Captain Jack Sparrow. So where does this leave the next "Pirates?" Depp said that "there's a fissure, a crack in my enthusiasm at the moment. It was all born in that office."

I can see this going two ways. Either Depp will run the show because he is the star vehicle for the "Pirates" franchise or he will decide to quit. Now if he runs the show, he will not answer to anyone and will make sure nothing changes to his character. If he decides to leave the franchise, it will be because he knows the film will not have the vision he imagined. As much as I want a forth "Pirates" I don't want it to suck. For more on this check out The Los Angeles Times.

Dance in Heaven Patrick Swayze

On Monday September 14, Patrick Swayze, 57, lost his battle against pancreatic cancer. He will always be remembered for Dirty Dancing and Ghost, which made women everywhere swoon over him. There were also the films such as Point Break, Red Dawn, Road House and Youngblood which showcased his ability to be an action star. He will be truly missed. Post your favorite Patrick Swayze moment below.

"Pirates 4" Gets an Official Title

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is the official title for the next set of pirate films. I don't really know if I like it. I'm sure it will grow on me. We have to wait until summer of 2011. I'll be there at midnight! For more info check out Rotten Tomatoes.

New Trailer for "The Princess and The Frog"

Disney Buys Marvel

I'm sure everyone has heard that Disney bought Marvel. But that does not mean that Marvel characters will pop up in Disney films. Pixar is owned by Disney, but Mickey does not appear in any of the films. I posted a funny comic strip above related to the controversy. Check out Penny Arcade for more.

What if the Disney Princesses Had a Dark Side?

I was surfing blog sites when I came upon Jeffrey Thomas's Portfolio: Twisted Princess. I love how he gives each of these perfect Disney Princesses a dark side. Yes, they look a little twisted, but he still incorporates all of the iconic images such as Snow White's apple and Cinderella's pumpkin. Personally, I would love to see a movie where these princesses kick some serious ass. Of course, Beauty and the Beast is my all time favorite animated feature and this artwork is my favorite. I love how Belle looks like she is going to tear someones eye out. This artwork is amazing. Please check out his blog site!

"The Men Who Stare At Goats" Trailer

The title of this movie made me wonder what could it possibly be about? Well, when I saw it on ET the other day, I was pleasantly surprised at the unique comedy. Now, I'm not a George Clooney fan, but I may have to give this one a chance.

Plot For "Pirates 4"

This isn't really news to me because the plot for the next "Pirates" was presented at the end of the third film, but I'm sure someone out there may not know. The next "Pirates" film will focus on Jack Sparrow chasing down the Fountain of Youth. I can't wait! For more info check out Hollywood Elsewhere.

"Avatar" Trailer

I don't know how I feel about this trailer. The film looks very different, which is a plus because we haven't seen a lot of original work in Hollywood lately. Avatar comes out December 18.

Teaser #2 For "The Twilight Saga: New Moon"

Now this is a teaser trailer! It's also much better in English than in French. I have to say I'm still impressed and can't wait until November 20.

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

The 14 Second Teaser for "The Twilight Saga: New Moon"

Okay, what is this? Really? If a studio wants to create a "teaser" for a teaser trailer then make it more interesting than this. I was not teased one bit and I won't buy a ticket to see Bandslam so I can see the whole teaser trailer. Yes, it is a smart move to feature the New Moon trailer in front of a movie that may not attract many viewers in order to increase ticket sales, but that won't last. It only takes one crazy fan to break the rules and leak the trailer online. I'm sure someone will record it with their cell phone. I wonder if Summit will find a way to keep this from happening? We shall see!

Monday, August 10, 2009

The Trailer for "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus"

I really want to see this film. It looks breathtaking. I'm happy that I'll get to see Heath Ledger once again.

Watch out Edward Cullen! Here Comes Barnabas Collins!

There have been rumors about whether or not Tim Burton and Johnny Depp will team up to recreate the 1966 television show Dark Shadows. Well, Burton confirmed at Comic Con that it will eventually happen and that Depp will play Barnabas Collins.

We all know how I feel about Johnny Depp and we all know that I have studied the mythology of vampires since high school, but the idea of Depp playing a vampire is like a child on Christmas morning for me. I can't wait! Check out the full article on Yahoo! Movies.

"The Twilight Saga: New Moon" First Official Clips

So this past weekend millions went to Comic Con to see exclusive clips from The Twilight Saga: New Moon. The first clip shows Bella running through the streets of Italy to stop Edward from stepping into the sunlight to reveal his true identity (a vampire sparkler). The second clip shows Jacob teaching Bella how to ride a motocycle, but she "sees" and "hears" Edward in her mind. He is there because she is doing something reckless and this becomes her motive to do crazy things.

I have read the entire series and from these clips it seems that the director chose to stay close to the book. I think it will be effective allowing us to see Edward instead of just hearing his voice in Bella's mind. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.

By the way, turn your volume down. I can't control the screaming girls.

The Official "A Nightmare on Elm Street" Poster

Freddy's back! Here is the official poster for A Nightmare on Elm Street. I have to say it looks really good and it still has us wondering if his face will look any different. Collider has more info and posters for other upcoming flicks.

Friday, July 24, 2009

"Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" Poster

I know this is based on a video game, but I was shocked to see Disney's name on it. Well, then again Disney is pretty much taking over the world. Jake Gyllenhaal looks pretty awesome and hot! Check out the other posters at Rotten Tomatoes.

Pics from "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus"

Here are some pics from Heath Ledger's final performance The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. The film also co-stars Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell. Check out Rotten Tomatoes for more.

The New Freddy Krueger

Here's a glimpse at the new Freddy Krueger who will NOT be Robert Englund. Jackie Earle Haley will be portraying the horror icon. This new pic doesn't give us a good look at his face, but it does give us the "classic" Freddy that we all remember from the beginning. Check out more at ComingSoon. The relaunch of A Nightmare on Elm Street hits theatres April 16, 2010.

"Pirates 4" to Start Filming Next Year

This is good news to my ears. According to Dark Horizons Disney's Head of Production, Oren Aviv states:

"We're going to shoot 'Pirates 4' in April and May of next year. We are going to release it hopefully in 2011 is the plan" said Aviv who adds that though this is only one movie, if successful it will "hopefully be the first of another trilogy"

"He also expects the tone to be much smaller next time around - "We can't get bigger... I want to kind of reboot the whole thing and bring it down to its core, its essence, just characters."

I like the idea of a "reboot" because it will start a whole new trilogy with new characters and adventures. I believe its going to be great as long as they have a good script and director.

Finally! The "Alice in Wonderland" Teaser Trailer

As I said before...Tim Burton equals genius.

"Alice in Wonderland" Trailer

The trailer was accidentally leaked early and Disney has requested that sites wait until tomorrow to post the trailer. If you saw it early then let me know what you think! I'll have it up as soon as its available. Below is what I thought of the trailer.

Thank you to the Movie Gods for releasing this today. Now I can go back to work in peace. This is truly Burton at his best. Pay attention to the crisp visuals and imagine how amazing this will look in 3D. The trailer is centered around Johnny Depp because everyone knows he is always up for being in a Burton film. It looks absolutely amazing!

First Pic from Disney's "Rapunzel"

I had no clue Disney was working on Rapunzel until today. Here is the first picture. The film is schedule for release during Christmas 2010. For more information check out Slash Film.

"Alice in Wonderland" and "Toy Story 3" Trailer Updates

This Friday, the teaser trailer for Burton's Alice in Wonderland will premiere in front of G-Force. But, what makes this so interesting is there will be a 3D double feature of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 before the movie. So basically audiences will get to see both Toy Stories in 3D, a new Toy Story 3 trailer and then the Alice and Wonderland trailer. Well, G-Force should roll in the money this weekend. For more information check out Slash Film.

Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow

I'm ready for next summer for many reasons.

First, the movies will hopefully be more appealing than this years.

Second, I hope there is atleast three movies I will see over again. I only saw one movie twice and that was Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

And finally we have the sequel to Iron Man. I don't know much about the comic series, but here is the first picture of Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow.
Check out the story on Entertainment Weekly

New "Halloween II" Trailer

I have to say, this trailer looks much better than the first one. I'll be there.

New Pics From "Remember Me"

Here are new pictures from the upcoming movie Remember Me, which stars Twilight's Robert Pattinson. It's interesting that Rotten Tomatoes has pictures up for the movie, but no plot summary. I guess Robert Pattinson is the plot summary. What has the world come to? To view all the pictures click the Rotten Tomatoes link.

"The Gate" is Getting Reopened

Remember the 1987 movie The Gate? I remember it well because it scared the crap out of me. Basically, a few kids discover a gateway to hell in their backyard and it unleashes demons and other supernatural spirits. Well, it was announced that the film will be remade in 3D. I don't know how I feel about that because recently every remake of a horror classic has not surpassed the original. I believe that no one will ever be able to surpass an original horror classic. It's like when they remade Psycho. It was a complete disaster. I understand that every director has their own vision, but lately their vision has not appealed to me. To read more on the remake of The Gate check out Bloody Disgusting.

A New Trailer for "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" is Coming Soon

The new trailer for The Twilight Saga: New Moon will be played in front of Bandslam, which opens August 14. I wonder how many people will be going to see the movie just for the trailer. Hmmm....probably a lot. I'll find it online. I'm looking forward to seeing some new scenes from the movie, which hits theatres on November 20. Check out Twilight Series Theories for more details.

Not a Depp-ful Movie

So many know that I have been waiting all year for a new Johnny Depp movie and I was left disappointed. Don't get me wrong Public Enemies is a good movie, I just can't get into crime dramas very well. I was hoping that Depp could change my prospective on the genre, but I was still bored. There were many good aspects to the film, such as the setting. Michael Mann did an incredible job by creating 1930's Chicago, which is the heart of the crime wave. The costumes, the old Fords and of course the Tommy Guns were all very interesting to see done so well.

I'm not very familiar with the story of John Dillinger, but from what I've heard and also saw it is pretty true to what really happened right down to his death. I also liked how the idea of a criminal was romanticized in the early 30's. People treated Dillinger like he was a celebrity. They wanted to know how long it took him to rob a bank and how he did it. He was America's early bad boy and the one women wanted to be with.

Now for the cast. Christian Bale did not impress me one bit. I don't think I've seen him in anything where he has actually turned himself into someone else. Now, many may think he did in The Dark Knight, but no one could hold a candle to Heath Ledger. I just don't think he has been give that role where he can actually transform himself.

Marion Cotillard was amazing. It was nice to see a women in the early 30's stand up for her beliefs. She wanted to be with Dillinger and she would do anything to protect him.

And now for Johnny. He was good, but he is not the Depp everyone may expect. He is not playing a character, he is playing a person. Most actors want to stay true to the person's life and don't want to change it when doing a biopic. Depp is known for doing many biopics such as Ed Wood, George Jung in Blow and J.M. Barrie in Finding Neverland, which I believe are some of Depp's best. In a recent article in the July issue of Vanity Fair Depp talked about how he searched for an audio recording of Dillinger voice, but had no luck. He ended up finding a recording of Dillinger's dad. He stated:

" There were some recordings which sounded exactly like my relatives. I mean, his pop sounded like my grandfather, almost exactly. So I just made the decision to sound not aggressively southern but to adopt a bit of a drawl."

Depp does not go into a film without doing his homework first. He visited all of the major landmarks where Dillinger used to be in the 30's. He also fired guns on a regular basics. When he plays the life of a person he wants to resemble them as best as possible. He stated:

"There's a certain responsibility playing a guy, even Dillinger. You want to do him right, ya know. You don't want to let him down. He may be watching. So I don't want to water down the integrity of the person I'm playing. I want to find its essence."

Even though the work is not Depp's best for me, you have to respect the hell out of him for what he does for each movie he stars in. He does not just walk onto a film set and take orders from the director. He takes creative control for all of his work and that is why he will be this generation's Hollywood Icon.

What Happened to the "Movie" Music Video?

Since the recent passing of Michael Jackson, I've started to wonder what's happened to the "Movie" music video. Jackson revolutionized music videos and especially the "Movie" music video with "Thriller." "Thriller" is the greatest "Movie" music video of all time. Now, MTV only shows us reality TV. They should change the name to RTV (Reality TV). There is something special about music videos because they give us a montage of images that create a story. They are like little experimental films that only last for four minutes or longer and they turn musicians into actors. I miss seeing "Movie" music videos. I know that musicians still create videos, but they will never have the longevity that Michael Jackson has created over the years. Thank you for the videos MJ!

Another "Good" For "Transformers 2"

I just wanted to give a shout out to The Movie Blog because they came up with another positive for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The Music. I can't believe it didn't cross my mind. The score is incredible. I posted the video for Linkin Park's "New Divide," which plays frequently throughout the film. The soundtrack is also really good with artists like Green Day, All American Rejects, Stain and Nickleback. I posted the main score for the Autobots, which does play in the film.

Autobots, Decepticons and Constructicons OH MY!

So the question is- How good was Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen? The first film was amazing and had everyone talking about the realistic special effects, but did the sequel even come close. Well, I have to admit I didn't have the same giddy feeling that my boyfriend had when we left the theatre, but after intense research and a cartoon viewing the sequel is in par with the first film. I'm going to break down the film into three categories- the good, the bad and the downright ugly.

The Good

Michael Bay is known for his intense special effects and camera angles that we don't see in other films. Some may judge him and say that he can't make a good movie, but I believe that his work is very artistic. Who else can make a car or jet turn into a robot that actually looks real? Steven Spielberg maybe? That's probably why he was a producer.

The Autobots really kicked some major butt in this movie. Bumblebee, Optiums Prime, Ironhide and Sideswipe all have really good fight scenes that will make fans very happy. Skid and Mudflap also known as "The Twins" are extremely funny-especially as the ice cream truck at the beginning. I was sad to see it transform into another car.

If you like the Decepticons and Constructicons then this is the movie for you. I enjoyed seeing more of the bad guys and also the Decepticons that didn't want to be part of the ongoing war-Wheelie and Jetfire. But if you like Megatron and whiny Starscream then you will be happy to know that they are portrayed the same way on screen as they are in the cartoon-especially Starscream---whiny baby.

The cast. Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese and John Turturro all gave good performances. They also enhanced the comedic atmosphere along with the robots.

The Bad

The first film did an excellent job with the introduction of the Autobots and Decepticons, but in this film there were robots everywhere with no real introductions. For fans, it was probably easy to pick out who is who, but for someone who didn't watch the cartoon may have a hard time. Basically the new Autobots are: Arcee, Jetfire, Sideswipe, Skid, Mudflap and Jolt. The new Decepticons are: The Fallen, Sideways, Soundwave, Ravage, The Doctor, Demolisher and Devastor (which is made up of a bunch of Constructicons).

Now most Transformers fans are 25 and older so the crude humor and profanity probably didn't bother anyone. Well, if you plan to take your child to this film be prepared because it is not like the cartoon.

The Ugly

WTF Michael Bay what were you thinking when you threw in the human, species-terminator like transformer woman. The whole scene didn't work for me and didn't fit into the theme of the movie.

So overall the film is your typical summer movie-loud, big machines, robots, hot men and women and people blowing up things or each other! Good Fun!
