The Burning Rattle
The petal falls
The thorn breaks
The blood oozes
Upon my battered face
The venom enters
Constricting my airways
Squeezing my lungs
Striking until I break
It bites into me
Pulling my flesh
Gnawing my skin like meat
Trying to swallow me whole
Numbness
Tingling
Dizziness
Blurriness
Yet, I won’t let the burning rattle get me
I won’t let the slithering pain consume me
I won’t let the poison control my body
I will fight the clever creature invading my all.
