"Rango" Saddles Up For Success

In a world that is obsessed with 3D animation, I wondered if Johnny Depp's new flick "Rango" would survive. The film is now the top film of the year. So what made people go see this new take on the wild wild west?
It's not in 3D. Not every film has to be in 3D. I thought "Rango" was one of the best animated films I've seen in a long time. The precision and expertise to get each scene perfect is noticeable. Gore Verbinski used emotion capture to create the film opposed to having each cast member speak behind a microphone. Basically, he had the cast act out the film. The use of emotion capture is present because the characters are more realistic and human.
I read a few reviews that said the story lacked heart. In the west, people fought for money. In Rango's world its water, which is needed to persevere. It's a story about a chameleon who (ironically) can change into anyone he wants to be, but in turn finds his true self. It's witty, different and yes it has heart. Anyone who has an imagination will find a connection with this film.

Five Reasons to Give "Just Go With It" A Chance
Many may think Adam Sandler makes the same kind of movies, which usually involve a man having a midlife crisis. But I was quite surprised with "Just Go With It." Here are my five reasons to give this movie a shot.5) Adam Sandler is funny. He may make some of the same jokes, but in this film he is refreshingly funny.
4) The new term for having to poop-"going to have a Devlin."
3) Nicole Kidman and Dave Matthews were excellent. Who knew they could actually be funny. It was nice to see a serious actress like Nicole Kidman in a comedy.
2) The kids played by Baliee Madison and Griffin Gluck bring more comedy with their blackmailing approach.
1) The chemistry between Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. They are so good and work so well together that I just couldn't wait for them to fall in love.
"Tangled" is Twisted Fun
Remember the magic and excitement that surrounded old Disney animated features? I remember the singing and the fun sidekicks. I remember falling in love with the story and the scenery. The last good Disney animated feature was "The Lion King" and after that they all seemed to fade away as Pixar progressed. In 2009, "The Princess and the Frog" finally brought back the old Disney flame. When I went to see Disney's 50th animated feature "Tangled" based off of Rapunzel, I was sure it was going to be boring. I was wrong.
From beginning to end, you are pulled into Flynn Rider and Rapunzel's world. Rapunzel yearns for freedom and a chance to see the world away from her tower. She finds her freedom and dreams in Flynn. The music is wonderful thanks to Alan Menken, who is no stranger to Disney fairy tales. It is a wonderful hearting warming story for all ages and is beautiful in 3D. I highly recommend going to see "Tangled."
