Are The Twins Back For "Transformers 3?"

Yesterday Michael Bay posted that Skids and Mudflap would not return for the third installment of Transformers. Well, today pictures surfaced of two Chevy Sparks that resemble The Twins. I wonder if these are new twins or if Skids and Mudflap had a makeover? I guess we will have to wait and see. For more info check out ComingSoon.net.

No Twins for "Transformers 3"

It's a sad day. I personally loved Skids and Mudflap in Transformers 2, but I also know they caused a lot of controversy as well. Michael Bay posted on one of his forums that "The Twins are not back in T3." Check out ComingSoon.net for more info.

"Iron Man 2" Action Packed Fun

There are some directors who make just sequels and then there are some directors like Jon Favreau who make a sequel into a whole new film. That's what Iron Man 2 felt like to me. I was more impressed with this film than the first one. From Robert Downey Jr.'s awesome performance to the "mini" subplots, the entire film was an extremely rewarding experience.

Let's start with the amazing cast. Of course, Robert Downey Jr.'s performance as Tony Stark was the perfect mix of cockiness and comedy. Don Cheadle surprised me in the role as Rhodey/War Machine, the role that originally belonged to Terrance Howard. The villains Whiplash (Mickey Rourke) and Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell) worked together to form a super villain, which I felt worked for this film. The ladies of the film Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and The Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) also kicked some major butt and gave the men a run for their money. Once again Favreau casted some amazing actors for the parts.

Of course there are some critics out there who don't like "mini" subplots in films. Well, Iron Man 2 has alot going on, but it all works together. The Avengers subplot is awesome because it's setting the stage for the future film. Make sure you stay after the credits for a surprise. Also look for Stan Lee's cameo!

"Date Night" Surprisingly Funny

I was quite surprised when I saw Date Night because I thought it would be another mediocre romantic comedy. Well, I was wrong. Here are my top five reasons to see Date Night.

5) This is not your typical romantic comedy. For example, you don't know the ending as soon as the film starts. There's no running after a loved one in the rain or expressing undying love for someone. It's more realistic and every couple can relate to the thoughts and feelings of the characters.

4) Steve Carell and Tina Fey work well together. There are some great one liners that are definitely worth a laugh.

3) Mark Wahlberg. For such a small part he makes a big impact.

2) Who knew two cars could actually get hooked together for a high speed car chase that gives The Fast and the Furious a run for their money.

1) Never take another person's reservation at a restaurant. It could turn ugly.

Freddy's Still Dead

What happened to Freddy Krueger? He lost his sarcasm and became downright creepy and gross. Granted Freddy is supposed to be creepy and gross, but not the way he is portrayed in the new version of A Nightmare on Elm Street.

I know that this film is considered a reboot of the first film and the new director is allowed to put his artistic stamp on it, but it lost its magic that made Wes Craven's version so horrific. There's still some images and memories from the original such as the music, the jump roping girls, the ionic "one two Freddy's coming for you," Nancy minus the gray streak in her hair, the dream sequences from the original and of course Freddy himself played by Jackie Earle Haley. For having such big shoes to fill he did a good job, but he's not memorable.

I think my biggest problem with this film is its trying to be a new film along with taking scenes from the original. Personally, I think that it would've worked better if it was just a whole different film and had absolutely nothing to do with the original. I went expecting to see scenes from the original, but BETTER. Not just a girl getting thrown around a room for two seconds and then gets cut down her chest. What happened to her getting dragged across the ceiling with blood behind her? I was extremely disappointed in the lack of creativity in the original dream sequences and even the new ones.

One of the most interesting and mysterious things about Freddy is his past. I was very upset that the entire film was based off of his past. I liked the idea that we didn't know why Freddy was killing all the Elm Street kids in the past versions. It left room to imagine and wonder who is Freddy Krueger. Well, now I know all of Freddy's business and personally I really didn't want to know the extent of his grossness because it was meant to be understood.

As I said earlier, I really think this film would've worked better as just another in the series. It would've allowed the director to play around more and certain scenes may have been more acceptable. But, when someone says they are going to reboot a horror classic there will always be certain expectations as with any popular film.

Disney Makes Cuts for "Pirates 4"

Apparently, Disney is making some serious financial cuts to the new Pirates. Personally, this doesn't bother me one bit. I like the idea that they will have to focus more on the story and the characters than the effects. It seems they are scaling back to the first Pirates. According to The Los Angeles Times:

"In discussing the script for the fourth "Pirates" film, screenwriters
Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio were told that Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow character would spend more time on land than water because of the high cost of shooting on the high seas.

To save more money, the number and selection of filming
locations changed. Whereas the prior installments were shot in the Caribbean and Los Angeles, the upcoming production will be filmed primarily in Hawaii and London, where tax credits are more favorable.

The number of shooting days scheduled is 90 to 95, down from 142 on the last movie. Similarly, there are expected to be 1,300 to 1,400 visual effects shots, compared with 2,000.

As preproduction gets underway in Hawaii, Marshall and Bruckheimer are going through the script line by line looking for more places to trim costs.

Gone is one shooting location four hours north of London that would have required an overnight stay for the cast and crew. Instead, filming in London will save $3 million to $4 million. "

Well, more time on land than on sea. I'm sure we will still get scenes from the sea. Think about it. The first Pirates had alot of land time. More land time than the second and third films.
